Most people who learn AI governance never get to implement it. This challenge gives you a realistic AI use case and asks you to govern it properly, end to end.
You receive two real-world AI use-case scenarios and choose one. An organisation, an AI system, its users, its data and the people it affects. You work out what could go wrong, and for whom.
Over 12 weeks you build an ISO/IEC 42001-aligned AI management system around it: policy, objectives, risk and impact assessment, controls, Statement of Applicability, evidence, internal audit and management review. All of it in Govern365.
The GAICC AI governance team reviews your implementation against eight published criteria. The question is not whether you completed the documents. It is whether this system makes sense for this scenario and would work in practice.
You walk away with something you can show. Every participant who meets the standard receives the GAICC ISO 42001 Practical Implementation Experience Certificate: verifiable evidence that you have built a complete AI management system around a real-world scenario, ready for your LinkedIn profile, your CV and your professional portfolio.
Plus 12 weeks of hands-on experience with ISO/IEC 42001 and the Govern365 platform, the kind most professionals only get once an employer trusts them with a live project.You can join at any point before the deadline. Govern365 is the AI governance platform by the Global AI Certification Council. It is where the whole implementation is built: the AI model registry, risk assessment, controls and Statement of Applicability, audit evidence and compliance dashboards. Every participant receives Govern365 training on the hub and platform access until 15 December 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. The organisation report you export from it is part of your submission.
Both options give you exactly the same challenge, the same scenarios, the same judging and the same prizes. The difference is whether you already have the training.

It is not a fee to enter a competition. Non-students receive the full implementation toolkit: the orientation, the learning materials, the templates and checklists, guidance through every phase, Govern365 access until 15 December 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time with training, and mentorship for 12 weeks. That is the set of resources most people never get their hands on until an employer trusts them with a real ISO/IEC 42001 project.
GAICC certification students participate for free because they have already received that training and those resources through their certification journey.
Eight criteria scored out of 100, assessed by the GAICC AI governance team including the Head of AI Governance, GAICC directors and AI team members. Half the marks sit on risk work and practical fit, because that is what the challenge exists to test.
Participants who reach at least 70 base marks, with no criterion below 40 percent, receive the GAICC ISO 42001 Practical Implementation Experience Certificate.
Both use cases are written for the challenge. No real companies, products or personal data are used. Treat the brief as reality and document any assumptions you make where it is silent.
GAICC will not use your submission commercially or for anything other than judging. At most, short anonymised excerpts may be used for educational purposes only.
Completing the challenge demonstrates your ability to implement an ISO/IEC 42001-aligned AI management system. It does not certify any organisation.
No. You will not sit a test or answer multiple choice questions. You build a working AI management system around a scenario and are assessed on whether it would work in practice.
No. Participation is individual only. You can discuss ideas with others and ask questions in the membership portal, but the submission must be your own work.
Yes, without restriction. Judges assess the quality and fit of the result and whether you understand what you have built.

Yes, at any point before the deadline. The deadline does not move, so join as early as you can. Govern365 access for every participant finishes on 15 December 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
No. Guidance is delivered through recorded walkthroughs, written materials and a Q&A area in the membership portal, so you can work in your own time zone.
Yes. It is where the implementation is built, its use is one of the eight judging criteria, and the organisation report you export from it is part of your submission. Training is provided.
No. You are responsible for anything confidential or sensitive you put on the GAICC hub or Govern365. GAICC and Govern365 are not liable if you do. Use only the fictional scenarios.
Scenarios are released at 9:00 AM Australian Eastern Time on 15 September. The submission deadline is 11:59 PM Pacific Time on 15 December, the last time zone of the day, so nobody is disadvantaged.
